Lydia Velazquez was the 2024 Salt Lake City Public Library (SLCPL) 2024 Alt Press Fest Featured Artist.

For this contracted project, she designed an Alt Press Fest poster and provided her Photoshop files to the SLCPL team so that her design and aspects of it could be used for marketing and other event purposes.

She combined a collage-by-hand approach with digital design to develop a poster inspired by messy, handmade zines.

Over the course of multiple re-design and feedback sessions, Lydia honed in on designing a poster that would look good digitally in various contexts (on social media, on a webpage) as well as printed. She prioritized a design that would convey the personality of the event, zines, and zine makers while still being legible and accessible.
